From startling creations on canvas to fine craftwork with merino, an exhibition in Coromandel is offering something a little different.
The Crimp and Canvas exhibition at Hauraki House combines landscape paintings of Deirdre Moorhead with Raewyn Penrose's one-off fibre creations.
Describing the exhibition, Moorhead could only use one word - different.
"We've got beautiful hand-made fleece products combined with striking landscapes of the area," she said.
"They're modern, although not contemporary, but modern."
Penrose is an internationally recognised professional artist, based on the Coromandel Peninsula who chooses fine New Zealand merino wool as the primary base material because it is a superior natural and sustainable product.
Constant experimentation develops new techniques and visual effects, and she regularly participates in exhibitions and fashion parades, both in New Zealand and overseas.
Moorhead is a painter, potter, printer and photographer and has been a member of the Waikato Society of Arts for 21 years.
During that time she has held a number of exhibitions to show her work in Hamilton and on the Coromandel.
Moorhead said the show has been well received.
"The public are agog when they see the work on display," she said.
The exhibition opened on Tuesday and runs through to midday Tuesday February 16 with the Hauraki House open from 10am to 4pm each day.
