From the community Birds & Birdhouses @ Prosser Public Library

rds and birdhouses at Prosser Public Library

During February and March 2016 handcrafted birdhouses made by Anthony Calibey are on display in the art case on the upper level at Prosser Public Library in Bloomfield. This imaginative and whimsical display includes among others, the "Bird Hotel," "Bird Cathedral," "Donut Shop," "Beach House" and even a "Diner."

Tony is a Bloomfield resident, retired and now busy creating a variety of structures as birdhouses often as gifts for friends and family.

Also on display behind the adult service desk are 14 photographs of Bloomfield birds, taken by Benjamin Skaught. A resident of Bloomfield for 23 years, Skaught retired after 42 years in education. He has traveled the world including Africa, Europe, Galapagos, New Zealand and 48 of the 50 states. His bird photos on display were all taken in Bloomfield.

Visitors to the library displays may want to test their bird knowledge and fill in a chart identifying the bird in each photograph by Ben Skaught. Those who correctly identify all 14 birds will win a suet cake to feed the birds in their backyard. And of course the library is displaying its collection of books and DVDs about birds and birding. Visit Prosser Public Library, One Tunxis Avenue, Bloomfield, during February and March 2016 and enjoy the birds.
