A FORMER textiles industry worker from Blackburn has landed her dream job after securing a publishing contract from a national fine art publisher.
Elaine Mather, 62, who lives in Feniscowles has had her collection of fine art published by Washington Green Fine Art Publishers.
The budding artist studied a foundation degree in Fine Art at Blackburn College and entered In:Sight 2015, a national competition to find promising artists in the UK.
Run by the publisher, Ms Mather was one of 20 finalists whittled down from more than 400 entrants and exhibited her work at Castle Fine Art gallery in Birmingham's International Convention Centre.
The winner would secure a publishing contract.
Ms Mather said she hopes the success will lead on to greater things.
She said: "I entered In:Sight 2015 as I hoped to gain a wider audience for my work and was excited to have my work exhibited in such a respected gallery.
"My work is mostly with acrylic on canvas and it is mostly landscape true or semi realistic.
"I like to create inspirational landscapes taking a viewer immediately to a warm spring day or crisp winter morning.
"My use of colour adds interest and drama to my paintings and I believe can create a focal point in an otherwise minimalistic setting in someone’s home.
"Vincent Van Gogh’s vibrant landscapes are one of my key inspirations."
The designer's work was one of only three artists from In:Sight 2015 chosen to work with the publisher.
Glyn Washington, founder and creative director of Washington Green Fine Art, said: "Elaine’s work stood out immediately at In:Sight 2015.
"Her perfectly balanced compositions struck a chord with so many that came to the exhibition.
"We are privileged to be able to present her very first collection of limited edition prints to the art market."
Signed limited edition of Ms Mather's prints are available to buy at Castle Fine Art galleries and by visiting www.castlefineart.com.
